Premier of Turks and Caicos Islands, the Honourable Charles Misick, will be guest speaker at Northern Caribbean University’s (NCU) Commencement Ceremony to be held on August 14, 2022, at the Mandeville Campus.

Premier Misick is an alumnus of West Indies College (WIC), the forerunner of NCU, as well as a graduate of the University of Technology Jamaica (formerly College of Arts Science and Technology). He will address the second of two ceremonies from both of which more than 500 graduands from the university’s four colleges and one school will be conferred with degrees.

The first commencement ceremony will be addressed by Dr Errol B. Bryce, Jamaican-born medical practitioner and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Texas Christian University as well as the University of North Texas medical schools in the United States of America.

During the commencement ceremonies, the university will confer three honorary doctoral degrees: two to retired Bermudan educators -Rosemary Tyrrell and Edith Mae Van Lowe. The late Caroline Reece, an icon from the Seventh-day Adventist community in St Catherine, will be awarded an honorary degree posthumously.

In addition, NCU will award Cecil Foster, CEO of FosRich electrical supplies company, with the President’s Medallion in recognition of his outstanding achievements in business. Pastor Glen O. Samuels, an alumnus of WIC/NCU, will be presented as the 2022 Product Sample in recognition of his outstanding personal and professional achievements as a graduate of the institution.

NCU’s graduation 2022 exercise is being held under the theme, Fueled by Faith, Charting the unknown. The Consecration Service for the Graduating Class of 2022 will be held virtually on Friday, August 12 at 7:00 p.m. The address will be presented by Pastor Darren Murphy of the Everton Park District of Seventh-day Adventist Churches. 

The Graduating Class will hold its Baccalaureate Service on August 13, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. Dr Leslie Pollard, president of Oakwood University in Alabama, USA will deliver the address. At 3:30 p.m. the Nurses’ Pinning and Thanksgiving Service will be held with the guest speaker being Mrs Renée Brooks, director of standards, research and development at the Ministry of Health and Wellness.
